Fall Pond Tips
Low Temp Fish Food
As the water temperature drops so does the fish metabolism. Switching to a low temperature food is easier on the fish digestive system and will help keep your pond clearer. Once the water temp drops to 55 degrees, you must stop feeding fish altogether.
Cool Water Bacteria
Bacteria is a very important part of regular pond maintenance. It should be added at least once a month and usually every 21 days. Now is the time to switch to the cool water bacteria which is formulated to work better in cool water.
Aquatic Plants
Fall Tips
Coming towards the end of the season on most aquatic plants always brings on the question.... what to do with them. They will die back usually after the first frost. Most aquatics you can cut off 1"above the water line. Next spring they will appear again. If you have questions call our office and ask for Vivian.
Umbrella Palms... one of the most hardy of all pond plants.
And don't worry it will come back next year.
